All of this bears witness to the long history of the house and provides an atmospheric setting for your time on the island. On Glænø you can go for good walks that will give you fresh red cheeks, in the bird sanctuary, on the clove, over the hills and in the large, expansive meadows. On the south coast of the island there are good bathing beaches, where dramatic cliffs fall beautifully down to the blue water. Here you can often be lucky enough to have it almost to yourselves. Meet Nanna For us, the cottage is a haven where time stands still and shoulders slump. The house is from 1780 so it is an older and charming lady. We come here at all times of the year both in the cold months where we enjoy the roar of the wood stove and the peace and quiet the winter brings with it as well as spring and summer when the house is opened up and the garden becomes an extra room filled with all the most beautiful things from nature. Glænø is a small, protected island with lots of nature and wildlife. There are no street lamps, kiosks or cafés, and we love that. When we need to shop or need a little life, we either go to Bisserup and pick up fresh fish at the harbor from the local fisherman, Lars Birger, have lunch at Fiskebaren or grab an ice cream.
