Hacienda San Juan de La Vega has been in my husbands family for about 20 years. It is truly a very unique and special location that has been fun to develop. It's a magical place where memories are made and shared for a lifetime. Both my husband and I just love our Hacienda San Juan de La Vega. We have put a lot of love and TLC in to developing our property and it is truly a joy to share it with our guest. We like to call this our long term retirement project... There is a lot to keep us entertained for several years to come... I am originally from the Northern Virginia/D.C. area and have been living in Ecuador for the last 10 years. I must say if I could I would spend all of my time on our ranch; however I live in Quito with my husband, which is also a wonderful place! We generally get down to the ranch most weekends, so we are available if you need us.

We are located 2,600m high in the northern Andes Mountains of Ecuador, near the rural village of San Pablo del Lago. We are 1hr and 30min from the Quito International Airport. As you enter and exit our ranch you will experience moments in which you feel like you have traveled back in time... Shepherds still walk their sheep to graze in the communal pastures... picturesque! If you are in the mood to dine out we have 3 great hotels within a 5 to 10min drive of our property. We can also coordinate catering services for you. Come visit! You are invited to come stay in one of 4 lovely villas located on our ranch, 'Hacienda San Juan de La Vega' offering all the comforts of a beautiful B&B 10min form San Pablo del Lago neighboring Otavalo, in the province of Imbabura, Ecuador. This majestic hacienda (40+ hectares/100 acres) is located at the end of a long Andean valley with a stream flowing through its green pastures. Along the stream you will find pools that are perfect for taking a little dip if you dare…the water is a bit chilly. A perfect retreat from wherever you find yourself at this moment… into a serene nature filled environment. We have an organic garden & a free-range chicken coop! You are welcome to harvest from our garden & enjoy our fresh eggs! If you are a garden lover you are also welcome to work in our garden, which is my personal favorite pastime. For those of you who enjoy HIKING or HORSEBACK RIDING, just step outside, there are amazing views, trails & waterfalls to be discovered in the surrounding mountainside. We also offer horse drawn hayrides for adults and children alike! It is just a lot of fun.
