Living in Egypt, you quickly learn that road noise, and loud speakers on mosques, can be very difficult to sleep through, and get good enjoyable rest. Drivers of all vehicle types use their horns at every opportunity. Took-tooks owners are very proud of their booming subwoofers. Motorcycles exhaust noise are generally excessively noisy. Street noise doesn’t settle down until about 2AM, but in truth never stops entirely. Mosques first call to prayer well before 5AM and regularly through the day until after 7PM in the evening every day. There is no escape from this completely, but being located well away from these problematic areas, as we are, leads to a restful environment, but still only a short walk to the Nile and all amenities one could want. To add to this restful environment, we have an extremely nice scenic outlook across banana plantations to the Nile River and Luxor Temple on one side, and to the Valley of the Queens mountains and Hatshepsut Temple to the other. Added to this, we have spacious viewing points and seating areas under cover from the hot sun, with fans and good quality air-conditioning, all this within a traditional classic Arabic style home incorporating beautifully detailed brickwork. As an icing on the cake, we have a beautiful private garden to enjoy as well.

It is with thanks to the local people who have encouraged us to open our doors to international guests as way to keep ourselves active and a further service to the local tourist industry which is the life blood of this area. As self-confessed history junkies, they have spent many years discovering many details interconnecting civilizations and people’s journeys through time and continents, and relationships with each other that have been largely forgotten or ignored. It is the sum of the past which has made the present, and influences world events.
