Stunning Country, Coast and History are all available when we welcome you to stay with us as our guests in the beautifully bright, clean and welcoming Rico's Retreat at Villa Almendricos. Please note Rico's Retreat is attached to our Villa where we live with our 3 dogs and 1 cat. Sleeps up to a maximum of 2 adult guests who have the use of the shared outdoor swimming pool in season, with amazing mountain views. Bedroom has a king sized double, and also has a large wardrobe if you are staying long term giving you plenty of space. The open plan lounge and kitchen also features 2 x large comfortable settees, and a 50" Pioneer TV with UK and Spanish TV. Rico's Retreat comes complete with everything you need for your stay with us, including all toiletries, shampoo, shower gel etc in the bathroom and all pots and pans, crockery and cutlery you could possibly need. The gardens surrounding Villa Almendricos are also open for our guests to use during their stay, and you have tables and chairs, and a barbecue in summer. Please note Rico's Retreat is a self contained annex attached to our house where we live so you will share some of the outside spaces and the pool. The accommodation is ideal for a couple. We do not allow any extra day visitors, guests, family members or friends, or parties of any kind. We want to make sure that you enjoy your stay and respectfully request that you follow the rules. We love to entertain, and at Villa Almendricos this is what they planned to do in their early retirement. Debbie in fact was a head chef from the TV and Film Industry and has worked on many big UK TV and Film productions. Jeff ran his own successful business and loves to meet people and socialise. Of course once they have met you and made sure you are comfortable they can leave you alone for the duration of your stay, or you are welcome to join them for drinks and some company. They both enjoy socialising and being outdoors working in the large gardens surround their house.

Set in a beautiful calm environment, with 360 degree mountain views, Rico's Retreat is sure to please, and with Almendricos an easy drive or cycle away for some local shopping, or a visit to the 3500 year old Bronze Age burial site, the visitor will not be disappointed. Puerto Lumbreras has the added attraction of the fantastic selection of cave houses, and nearby Lorca with its Old Town and Castle are also worth a day trip. All around our property you have direct access to walking, hiking and cycling and with both the GR-257 and the La Vía Verde del Noroeste of the Region of Murcia accessible from Almendricos, which makes use of the old railway track between Murcia and Caravaca de la Cruz. Along its way there are plenty of varied sceneries where we can find an important piece of the natural and cultural heritage of the Region. We are close to the Sierra Espuña which contains Murcia's largest extensions of forest, as well as being one of its most emblematic areas of outstanding natural beauty. Its modern verdure is due in large part to reforestation campaigns carried out towards the end of the 19th Century by Murcian philanthropist Ricardo Codorníu, known by the nickname the Tree Apostle. You can also visit The Pulpí Geode, also known as the Giant Geode, which is the one of the largest crystal caves ever found, and is the largest accessible geode in the world. The geological phenomenon is located in Mina Rica, an abandoned silver mine near Pulpí on the northern Almeria coast. Discovered in 1999 by members of the Mineralogist Group of Madrid, it opened to the public in August 2019. A geode is a void formed from an air bubble inside volcanic, metamorphic or sedimentary rock. It is filled with crystals formed from mineral deposits. The Giant Geode measures 8 metres long by 2 metres high, and is covered with huge translucent gypsum crystals up to 2 metres in length. The transparency, size and state of preservation of this geode make it unique.
