Eixample, is the area of Barcelona which is very close to the old neghbourhood (Gothic, Born...) but far enough so that you can enjoy quietness and space. Its streets are wide, full of trees and with a lot of shops and restaurants. In less than a 20 minutes walk you can get to any of the most important areas and momuments of the city. Or you can always take the metro. Diagonal stop its just a 3 minute walk from here. The area is full of modernist buildings, so when you walk along the streets it is forbiden to look on the floor. You have to take in the façades with plaster details and drawings, the iron balconies and the old shops wich surprise you along the way.
