Arinaga is a charming coastal village belonging to the municipality of Agüimes, located in the southeast of Gran Canaria. Its coastline is a true gem that, we are sure, will captivate you. Along the approximately 2-kilometer promenade, which stretches from one end of the village to the other, you’ll find restaurants and bars where you can enjoy local cuisine. The area is also monitored and has showers. Locals often swim at the pier and jump into the sea from there. Beyond the pier, heading towards Risco Verde, there are other natural pool-like swimming areas known as Zoco Negro. Continuing along the promenade, you’ll find several wooden sunbeds on the beach’s stones, creating the perfect sunbathing spot. At the end of the promenade, you’ll find the Risco Verde bathing area, which also features wooden sunbeds and areas with ramps for easy access to the water. This coastal area is renowned for the richness of its marine life, making it one of the best spots for scuba diving or a diving baptism in Gran Canaria. Another must-see in Arinaga is its lighthouse. To reach it, it’s best to drive, as it sits atop a hill. From there, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Playa del Cabrón, the Roque de Arinaga, and the village. Next to the lighthouse, there is a restaurant, perfect for resting and admiring the view. If you continue north along a dirt road, you’ll reach Playa del Cabrón. The access to this small, peaceful cove is via a bumpy path. It’s recommended to park your car at the start of the path and walk about 10 minutes. From the beach, you can see the lighthouse and enjoy the tranquility of the area, as it’s not a tourist beach, despite its undeniable beauty.
