From a cozy atmosphere, we hope you will discover the sensational sceneries of Cantabria, where a history strongly marked by faith is evident. Our house is a self catering unit, where a fully equipped kitchen is available for your use. Please kindly note you must bring your own provisions, as there is no supermarket in San Sebastian de Garabandal. We are in a small village located in the Cordillera Cantábrica, at about 650 meters altitude, in the municipal area of Rionansa, 8 kms from the respective capital - the town of Puentenansa - where you can find basic services: supermarket, butcher, pastry-bakery, restaurant-bars, pharmacy, post office, bank, insurance services, drugstore, sale and after-sales support of electrical/technical equipment, town hall, center health, Civil Guard, Firefighters and Sanitary Emergencies.
"The north is not a location or a place; it's a state of mind" and it was in this context that we fell in love with Cantabria in general, and very particularly with San Sebastian de Garabandal. After years of countless visits to this sanctuary of healing, we decided it was our turn to help other pilgrims reach their goal. We sincerely hope that you find what you are looking for.
The rugged geography and the predominantly humid and cold climate found in San Sebastian de Garabandal have made it difficult for people to settle in this area. The families devoted themselves mainly to herding cattle and the product of their farms, crops grown on the slopes of the mountains. Despite being a poor village, it has always been recognized for its religiosity. Until, in 1961, the supernatural apparitions of the Archangel S.Miguel and Our Lady of Carmel began, to four children of the village. After hundreds of apparitions ended in 1965, the place continued to attract many pilgrims who find healing here at different levels of their lives. Until today, the different towns in the area do not have more than a few hundred inhabitants – Cosio, Polacciones, Carmona, Celis, Cades… -, with the largest towns being an average of 30 km away – San Vicente de la Barquera, Unquera and Cabezón de la Sal – and the main administrative centers in Torrelavega and in the community capital of Santander (about 55 and 80 kms away respectively).
