The municipality of El Pinar is located on the southern slope of the island of El Hierro, where almost 80% of its territory is protected, as it has a high landscape, ethnographic and environmental value. It begins with laurel forest and pine groves at an altitude of about 1500m and descends to the sea through paths, hieroglyphics, fields of almond and fig trees, recreational areas, viewpoints, volcanic cones and corded lava that melt with the sea. Its waters are protected under the protection of the Marine Reserve "Punta de La Restinga Mar de Las Calmas". El Pinar also serves to refer to the union of Taibique and Las Casas, which together with La Restinga, make up the municipal population centres.
