Saariselän Kuukkeli is a family-owned company that has been operating for 40 years. We have been accommodating travelers visiting Saariselkä for 20 years. Most of our properties are located in and around the center of Saariselkä, but we also have accommodation options in Ivalo, Inari, Vuotso, and Sodankylä.
We offer accommodation in every price category. What attracts customers to our properties is their uniqueness. Each location is one of a kind, regardless of price. Our signature feature is beautiful log cabins made of kelo wood, that are are well-furnished and fully equipped, and provide authentic Lappish atmosphere.
Kuukkeli is a brand with a vision to fulfill all possible wishes and needs of our guests! In addition to accommodation services, we also operate "Kuukkeli Shopping Center", that is a gem of Saariselkä. In the shopping center you will find our new elegant restaurant, Bistro & Cafe Kuukkel, and our own Kuukkeli House Bakery, a gift shop "Kuukkeli Shop" and accommodation reception office, an outdoor equipment and clothing store "Kesport", rental and activity booking office "Kuukkeli Rental Shop", luggage storage, and transport service Taxi Kuukkeli. Additionally, we house Saariselkä's only grocery store, K-Market Saariselkä, and Alko. With everything under one roof, you’ll find everything you need for your holiday!
We offer a wide range of activities, including northern lights hunting, cycling tours, snowshoeing adventures, and an entirely new concept called the Sauna World. This unique experience, inspired by a beloved Finnish tradition, grants you access to a sauna house featuring two large electric saunas, each with separate dressing rooms and wash facilities, a spacious indoor heated swimming pool, and a cozy lounge area with a fireplace. Property information
Jaspis Cabin is located approximately 6 km from the center of Saariselkä, in the Hangasoja holiday cabin area. In addition to its peaceful location, the cabin offers a true wilderness experience, with the Hangasoja stream flowing right in front of it. The stream has a natural spring that remains unfrozen even in winter, providing water that must be manually carried. There is no running water in the cabin or sauna, except for what you bring in yourself.
The spacious living area features a fireplace and a dining table. The sofa can be extended into a bed. Sleeping areas include two separate sleeping alcoves, which are partitioned with curtains from the rest of the space, each containing beds for two people. Above the sleeping alcoves, there is a low, sloped-ceiling loft with two additional beds, accessed via steep stairs.
The kitchen is equipped with all necessary utensils for cooking, as well as a drain for dishwater. The spring water can be used for household tasks such as dishwashing, but it is recommended to bring separate drinking water. Using the spring water for anything other than household purposes is at the guest’s own risk.
The cabin has an electric incineration toilet. The same building also contains an electrically heated sauna, but the washing water must be heated in a wood-fired water tank.
Outside, there is a firepit, and the cabin’s parking area includes electric heating posts for two cars. The rental price includes one 5-liter container of drinking water.
Smoking indoors is prohibited. Pets are not allowed in this accommodation.
Breakfast is served at Bistro & Cafe Kuukkeli from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Saariseläntie 1, Kuukkeli Shopping Center.
In Saariselkä area, all the destinations have reception and accommodation keys pick up/return located in Shopping Center Kuukkeli, at Saariseläntie 1, 99830 Inari. The office is open Mon-Sun from 9 AM to 9 PM. Check-in is possible after 9:00 PM.

Saariselkä is one of Finland's oldest travel destinations, offering plenty to see, do, and experience all year round. The outdoor and hiking trails of the UK National Park start right next to most accommodation options. In winter, Saariselkä’s well-maintained cross-country skiing network provides nearly 250 km of trails. For downhill enthusiasts, Saariselkä Ski & Sport Resort features 20 ski slopes and 6 lifts, offering a variety of skiing experiences. And don’t forget to try Finland’s longest toboggan run, which stretches about 1,200 meters.
The stunning fells are breathtaking in every season, and while exploring the wilderness, you can also enjoy the true silence of Lapland’s nature.
Saariselkä is easily accessible by car, bus/train, or plane. The nearest airport, Ivalo Airport, is only a 20-minute drive away. Saariselkä has something for everyone, so welcome – come and experience the magic of the fells!
