Alain and Nicole own a very large private house with several rooms and bathrooms. So that they have been able to create a private space for rent in which there are 2 large, refurbished and comfortable rooms. So that the guest can have the feeling of being in a home but with the privacy of a hotel. The accommodation provides free WIFI, each room has a desk and a flat-screen TV. There is a bathroom for the 2 rooms. There is a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, coffee machine and an electric jug. All rooms come with armchairs. In season people have access to a swimming pool, Sauna, Spa, and a small city garden. They can also play pool in the main living room. Saintes, rich in Gallo-Roman remains as well as Gothic and Romanesque churches, is 25 km from the accommodation. The nearest airport is La Rochelle - Ile de Re Airport, 87 km. Alain is fluent in English and he enjoys exchanging with English speaking people.

Nicole in her sixties and myself ten years beyond are both still active professionally. Nicole is a broker for bulk Cognac and for vineyard property, as well as being very involved in social welfare organizations, notably Lions. As to me I pilot seminars on sales techniques, negotiation, and conflict resolution. I am particularly interested in history. Alain is fluent in English, since he lived close to 20 years in Ontario and the U.S. He enjoys exchanging with English speaking people.

Cognac is a small town and we are situated at 10 minutes by foot from downtown. The major attraction of the town and its surrounds is Cognac cellars visits and sampling the famous Cognac (Brandy). The big houses, Martell, Hennessy and others, as well as the estates in the vineyards offer a variety of interesting visits and events. In addition, the region has a rich heritage of Gallo-Roman vestiges, Romanesque and Gothic churches, notably in Saintes which is only 25 km away. Royan city and the Atlantic beaches are at approximately 70 km. The beautiful city of La Rochelle and its seaport with impressive tower, its Museum is at 109 km with 80 km on motorway. Also, the wine city of Bordeaux, “the little Paris” of France south west with its rich architecture, its worldwide famous vineyards, is at 121km of which 84 on motorway.
