Company information

Ted & Lesa look at themselves not as just the owners of Chateau De Montmagner but the custodians of this Historical Monument. After purchasing the estate in March 2020, leaving their jobs and life back in the UK, they took it upon themselves to restore this magnificent piece of architecture and open it back up to public view. With no previous experience and after 9 months of living in a tent in one of the barns Ted & Lesa have finally completed phase one of the renovation and welcome you to stay, visit or even volunteer with them at their beautiful Chateau.

Chateau De Montmagner has been sympathetically renovated after being abandoned for many years. The buildings are made from granite stone, and you can see from the huge, dressed stonework the age of the property. The 14th century spiral staircase built from Oak with central column an ancient ships mast. Below the tower there is said to be medieval tunnels leading to 11th century church in La Soutteraine. The Chateau is steeped in its own history with links to King Louis 13th and the Knights Templar, however it is a perfect base for lovers of historical architecture with over 300 listed historical monuments close by. Please be aware we are in rural France and it is advised that you have your own transport and note that on Sundays and Mondays there are limited restaurants open so it would be advised to ensure you have some supplies for your first day stay or give your hosts a shopping list for your arrival.
