Reconnect with nature and create cherished memories at 'Les Hauts Pâturages'. Your Pyrénées escape begins here...
Doug and Susan Young have been welcoming guests to Les Hauts Pâturages in the Hautes Pyrénées since 2016. They know exactly what it takes to deliver exceptionally comfortable, unforgettable holidays, amazing food and guest experience.
Owner Doug’s passionate commitment to forestry and nature began with growing up in the Lake District scampering over mountains and rivers as a child. Susan convinced him that locally grown produce offered a healthier, happier way to grow food and together they kept rare-breed sheep, pigs and chickens whilst their boys were growing up on a small holding holding in Norfolk .
These days Doug spends time maintaining and managing the 30 acres of woodland and pastures, making furniture and working through his ever growing to-do list! He loves sharing his food knowledge with his guests and is the king of the wood-fired pizza oven and Paëlla burner!
As a musician, Doug can often be found with with his guitar around the firepit entertaining guests long into the night.
Back in Norfolk Susan ran a Cookery School collaborating with local schools, chefs and organic growers offering children the chance to grow, pick and cook heathly meals. This soon expanded into teaching adults and eventually added outside catering.
Aways passionate about food Susan found herself cooking for guests and received amazing reviews, Organically the food side of the business has developed with Susan running Bigorre.Kitchen offering catering for weddings and events.
