We have operated the Gites for over 15 years now and still love meeting new families. Many of our guests have become friends now and come back year after year. We live a few mins drive away from the property but are on site all day and will stay until 6pm to welcome arriving guests. For arrivals after 6pm we leave the keys in a key safe in the car park.

Stunning rural edge-of-village location in the Nie Valley. Located under 1hr drive from beaches at Fouras, Royan and just over 1 hr to La Rochelle. 10 mins from Matha, 20 mins drive from St. Jean D'Angely. Quiet, rural location. Very safe and secure for families with young children. We have Five comfortable, child-friendly gites each with private outdoor areas on a renovated, Napoleonic-era fortified farm. The historic stone buildings have 50cm thick walls and are positioned around a large, fully-enclosed shared area consisting of a large lawn with play facilities including large and small trampolines, swings, baby swing, sandpit, slide, play house and animal petting area ( with laying hens, quail and ducklings ). The property has private parking and a separate, fully, enclosed, gated pool area with 50m2 heated pool and another lawn and sunbeds. Also we have a games barn (with ping pong, table football and basketball) just off the main lawn and also a 0.5 hectare field overlooking the sunflower-filled Nie valley. Free, high speed Internet is available throughout the site. Private, off-road parking is available for all the cottages and the communal garden area is fully enclosed, with the play area visible from all the gites private gardens.

Gibourne is a very quiet, historic, farming community, typical of the area. The Nie valley is very picturesque and rural ( filled with vineyards and sunflower fields ). The area around our property is perfect for family cycling trips as the majority of the roads have virtually no traffic and the area is relatively flat with few steep hills. We have very high speed internet (faster than many local towns) thanks to the large number of wind turbines in the area. Many families bring bikes as the area is so perfect for cycling. There are lots of tourist attractions within easy drive of the village and a good tourist office in the nearest town (Matha - 7km) which also has a number of ATMs, restaurants, cafes and a choice of 3 supermarkets. The larger market towns of St Jean D'Angely, Saintes and Cognac are also easy driving distance and many local beaches can be reached within an hours drive or less. The historic city of La Rochelle is about one hours drive North West. Despite the large number of potential excursions in the local area, many guests find the environment at our gites so comfortable that they spend most of their holiday simply relaxing on site with a glass of locally-made wine while the children play in the pool or the make new friends in the central play area.
