Our guest house is over 250 years old and was totally renovated during the lockdowns of 2020. The continued improvement of the facilities is an on-going process as we strive to offer the best possible guest experience. Privacy, Comfort, Calm and Cleanliness are our watchwords, we welcome our visitors at the gate, offer help with their luggage, show them around, help and advise about visits/trips and help to make reservations at local restaurants. All this is done in either French or English, we offer mother tongue fluency in both languages. Our visitors will enjoy privacy as the two guest rooms are occupied by a maximum of four people and there is over 100 square metres of space available to them. In this regard the living room and galley kitchen, equipped with fridge, micro-wave and sink is available to guest booking more than a one-night stay. As for the cottage/ Gite, it is completely out of sight and far enough away for everyone to feel good, it also has its own garden and two terraces; The Morning Terrace and the South Terrace. As summers appear to be getting warmer, we are happy to be “ahead of the curve” with regard to the level of insulation offered. The guest rooms have over 40 cm of hemp, wood and other natural insulating materials so the need for air-conditioning, and the associated environmental impact, is minimised. Each room is equipped with a very quiet fan, but experience has shown they are little used because of the efficacy of the insulation! We are extremely focused on the hygiene of our home; our advice and rules are clearly displayed and are there to ensure the relaxation and comfort of everyone.

« Create a guest house » That was our idea as we settled I this pretty little village in 2018. As our previous life was in much more lively surroundings in different parts of the world, we did not want to be totally away from everything. Our guest house has enabled us to meet visitors from all over the world, we converse as needed in French or English and we use the additional income to maintain and enhance our property that we love more and more!

Mesland has a population of about 500 inhabitants, there is a post office but no shop! Thus, sheltered from commercial life there is little noise or pollution, life is tranquil, however supermarkets and shops are only 5 minutes away by car; and we are in the centre of what many of you come to the Loire Valley for; castles, gardens and country walks. Of course, we shouldn’t forget the famous Beauval Zoo just 40 minutes away. If outdoor activities are your thing, there are many hiking trails, bicycle paths, boat excursion on the Loire River and even hot air balloons, all of these are within 20 km (15 miles) of Mesland.
