Property information

Queen's Escape is a bed & breakfast in Martel, France. Properly named, Château de La Tuilerie, it is a 200-year-old castle built by a former mayor of Martel in 1820. The name, Queen's Escape, was inspired by the Belgian Queen and royal family who spent 4 years here during WWII. Just as it was an escape then, we view it similarly as a quiet haven away from modernity. We offer 2 large rooms (Margrethe & Eleanor) and 2 smaller rooms (Catherine & Cleopatra). Coming soon: our bridal suite (Elizabeth). The château has a large terrace where guests may relax year-round with drinks and wine for purchase looking out on a grassy landscape bordering the medieval town of Gluges where the bells chime to welcome sunrise and sunset. All rooms boast large beam hardwood floors, high castle ceilings, large light-filled windows, personal en suite bathroom, a fireplace, bed linens, towels, shampoo, and a traditional petit déjeuner of bread, butter, jam, coffee, tea, and juice in the shared château dining room on the ground floor.

Neighbourhood information

Château de La Tuilerie, also known as Queen's Escape is located in the medeivel town of Gluges. In fact, you can stroll through Gluges as our back driveway takes you right through the beautiful town with limestone cliffs towering above.
