Relaxing, tranquil studio space above a barn within a large garden. You have access to the whole garden including a gazebo where you can see the sun set whilst drinking a glass of wine, but have your very own quiet garden complete with love seats and a barbecue and fantastic views. Bikes are available to use but they are old, as we are next to the cycle track going to Mont Saint Michel which is 64km away or Domfront 19km away. Fantastic place for a romantic get away. The bed is a super king bed. The studio is spacious via wide stairs from a hallway.
The shower is under the roof eaves so has limited head room, but people over 6 feet cope ok, but it might not be for you. Most say that the very large bed and room and garden make up for five minutes in a shower with limited head room.
The kitchen is fully equipped for long visits. There is no oven, but we have a small grill, an air fryer, a slow cooker, a sandwich maker, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. We also have a gas barbecue and a wood barbecue if wanted. We supply coffee, teas, sugar, salt, pepper, oil for cooking, tin foil etc.
Unlike a lot of small places we have visited in france, we supply all the bed linen and towels and sanex, hand lotion, washing up liquid. We have a washing machine and dryer in our garage which you have a key for and can wash and dry your clothes or leave your bikes in there as we are next to the voie de verte and have lots of cycling guests.
We are in the middle of everywhere, but in the middle of no where. We are five minutes for places to eat and the nearest pub can be walked to in the village as can the local restaurant. It is up hill to get there and downhill on the way back. Always a good combination in my book!
We live on site, so any questions, we are more than happy to help. We also supply local information on events in the area. We are next to Barenton and the Tour de France goes through here end of July this year.
Myself and my husband are frequent travellers using airBandB around Europe and the UK. We have met some lovely people and been to some fantastic places. We are off to Saville in June for a week this year and we are off to New Zealand and Australia from October to December. We have Lucy looking after our property whilst not here and looking after our cats.
We were fortunate enough to retire early. My husband was a Contracts Manager in the building trade and I was a qualified Social Worker. We moved to France in 2017 and it was a very good decision to make.
We are grand parents and have animals and a lovely big garden. Our motto in life is that life is a lottery and one should live it as best they can. We particularly love our gazebo in the evenings with a glass of wine and highly recommend it. Our orchard garden has developed well and is lovely to sit in a secluded area, if you so wish. It certainky catches the sun.
We are in walking distance from the village which has a restaurant open every day for lunch and evenings on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and a local bar Chez Rene which is english run on a Thursday to Sunday. Also next to a bike track or voie de verte. It is lovely to walk along it in the evenings or cycle. There are many routes, so ask and we will give you any information you need, There are only four houses on our lane in a conservation area, so it is nice and peaceful. We do live in a farming community so occasionally here is farm traffic.
You will need a car. A keen walker can walk to Barenton for shops and buses if required. You can cycle to Domfront. Keen cyclists could cycle to Mont St Michel and back in two days. We have keen cyclists who tend to cycle to Mont St Michel and stay overnight and then return. However, most cycle in the local area only as it is so lovely. Parking except for large cities or towns is free and there is always loads of parking.
