The House of Laroque sits in a quiet residential street just outside the old medieval town of Laroque-des-Albères. The house is a detached villa, and guests will have use of the ground floor, as well as exclusive use of the grounds. The House of Laroque can sleep up to 5 people; excellent for couples or a family with children. The House of Laroque comes with an outside swimming pool (unheated, 7m long, 3.5m wide, 1.5m deep), surrounded by lawn and an outside patio, sheltered by green hedges. The outside paved patio area is accessible straight from the kitchen,and perfect for al fresco breakfast, lunch, and supper, with direct access to the swimming pool area. The House of Laroque is located just outside the walls of the original medieval village. Local shops (baker, butcher, groceries) are within a ten minute walk; there is a village market on Wednesday mornings. A large Carrefour supermarket is 7 minutes drive away. Laroque-des-Albères has numerous great restaurants and bars, catering to all kinds as well as a great takeaway pizzeria, and a burger takeaway, all within ten minutes’ walk from the House of Laroque. The village is a perfect base for cycling, hiking, or mountain biking in the foothills of the Pyrenees. A huge variety of beaches are closeby: the long, wide sandy beaches of Argelès-Plage and Le Racou are a ten minute drive away, unless you prefer the beachfront towns of Collioure (20 minutes drive) or Saint-Cyprien (25 minutes drive). The Côte vermeille, stretching from Argèles to Cerbère is dotted with small coves perfect for swimming and lounging. Inland you can visit the lovely towns of Thuir (location of the largest wine barrel in the world) and Céret.
