It is a house typical of the Gascony region. We don't know how old it is but likely to be more than 200 years old and the attached barn even older. The shady garden and dipping pool is available for your use, but don't be surprised if Clara, our free range pot bellied pig, gives you a little grunt during your siesta!! We have a varying number of chickens wandering around the garden and 3 dogs that are all very friendly. We are about a 10min level walk from the centre of the village which has a bar/bistro, shop pharmacy, bakers and even a swimming pool (July & August). Guests have their own entrance so you can come and go as you please !
I am British and originate from Bristol in the South west of the UK and Jean-Pierre is French and is from Riscle. We know the area very well and our guests often benefit from our local knowledge. We both enjoy the outdoor life. I am often out around Viella with one or more of the dogs or finding new cycling routes. I speak English and French and Jean-Pierre speaks French and some Spanish. We have a relaxed attitude to life and there few house rules. Our aim is to ensure you have a great stay with us.
The area is very calm and peaceful and so perfect for a getaway from it all break. We are also very close to many of the vineyards specialising in Madiran and St Mont wines, so why not make the most of the opportunity to try a few of them?! Not sure where to start? Just ask! Also, Viella is great for rambling and cycling off and on road. We can provide maps and routes. We within a reasonable distance of Marciac and its Jazz festival and Nogaro and its motor racing circuit. We have produced an e guide of Viella and the local region, which we will send to guests a few days before check-in. Please let us know if what to add to it!
