The Old School House is spacious and beautiful. The perfect to get away from it all. Bring the whole family & enjoy our hot tub, outside kitchen & fire pit, whilst embracing stunning views of the Sugarloaf & Blorenge Mountain. Situated in a small village within the Brecon Beacons & one mile outside of Abergavenny (best known for its eateries, vineyard & much more), this substantial Victorian brownstone house is surrounded by an acre of mature, tranquil gardens.
Hi - I'm Naomi. Welcome to our beautiful Old School House. It is a family home, which we share with you & many other guests. My family live mostly 50 miles away, so don't worry you won't see us around the house. The house is managed by the next door neighbour, Amy. She will be available to assist you with anything you may need, and give you advice about how to get the most out of your stay in Abergavenny and the surrounding areas.
There are endless places to explore for lovers of the great outdoors. The closest mountains if you fancy a hike or mountain bike ride, are The Sugarloaf, Blorenge and Skirrid. If an easier walk or ride is preferred then The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal are brilliant for all ages. There are numerous Cadw and Natinal Trust sites to visit, including Big Pit National Coal Museum, Raglan Castle and Blaenavon Ironworks just to name a few. Abergavenny is known as the food capital of Wales, with its annual Food Festival attracting thousands of foodies every September. The Greenman Festival in neighbouring Crickhowell every summer, is also a big hit! The list of things to do, eat and see is endless!!! Or if all you want is a quiet get away with family and friends, then our beautiful home and peaceful surroundings will not disappoint! PLEASE NOT THAT THE PROPERTY IS IN A FLOOD RISK AREA. If there has been excessive rain or stormy weather the road leading to the property can flood for a day or two (this normally happens once or twice a year). If this occurs advice will be given by your host, according to Natural Resources Wales Guideline.
