Sleights village is a gem of a village just on the outskirts of Whitby and at the foothills of the North York Moors. For those who enjoy a stroll, Whitby is an hours walk away. You will stay in a airy bright and beautifully converted self contained studio which has its own front door and is part of a large Victorian Villa, where we live. Guests will enjoy the privacy of the Hideaway with their own outside area. They can relax on the luxury Simba mattress that promises a good nights rest after a busy day. Please note, that you need to walk down steep (some uneven) steps to access the Hideaway (see photos)
Hi, We are a couple of Southerners who fell completely in love with Yorkshire in our twenties and have been here ever since. We have brought our family up in North Yorkshire and have spent many weekends walking and cycling with them on the moors and coastline of Whitby and Scarborough. With the youngsters now grown up, we have enjoyed sharing our bit of Yorkshire with guests. The accommodation is separate and private from the house, however enjoys some stunning views across the valley. It is a great place to have a little bit of peace, hopefully sunshine, stressless parking and yet closeby to Whitby and all the history offered by Robin Hoods Bay and the surrounding villages and moors. We would like our guests to enjoy their stay at the Hideaway. For some this means little contact and a brief welcome from us. For other guests this may mean that they would like a little more information perhaps about local walks or biking tracks. We have a key safe for seamless access for check in, however we also live above the Hideaway and can be available if we are needed.
Sleights is a unique village within an easy 5 minute drive from Whitby and from the North Yorks Moors. It is serviced by a prize winning Butchers, Bothams bakers, a Pub, Fish and Chip shop/restaurant, cafe by the river and a little Spar/Post Office. All these are a walk from the house up hill, but what a joy walking back down again! This is a walkers paradise, based on the Esk Valley Walk and with several circular routes straight from the door. However we are aware walking isn't everyone's 'cup of tea'. There is a bus route into Whitby across the road from the house, a train station (about 4 trains a day) at the bottom of the road and by car a 5 minute drive into Whitby.
