Shetland is one of 4 holiday cottages converted from various old farm outbuildings. Whilst Shetland is the smallest of the cottages it is cozy and comfortable. The hot tub is situated in the large front courtyard and is accessible from the bedroom or from the lounge area. The front courtyard has a large outside table and twin curved benches. Shetland looks out over the yard and to the stables on the far side. Parking is directly in front of the cottage so making it very accessible. Sunsets over the rescue paddocks can be viewed from the guest paddock that is accessible either through the stables or via the open barn at the southerly end of the yard. If unsure please ask and we will gladly show you how to reach the paddocks. Currently we have 3 miniature mediterranean donkeys with us and 7 goats of various breeds and sizes. In addition there are 2 mares with young foals, a gelding and stallion as well as a multitude of chickens. All are very friendly but please do not feed or pet the horses. Shetland may be our smallest but it is a very popular cottage. The yard makes for an excellent base to explore the walks and features of the New Forest. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HOT TUB IS EMPTIED, SANITISED, REFILLED AND REHEATED BETWEEN GUESTS SO MAY NOT BE READY TO USE UNTIL APPROX 21.00 OR LATER ON THE FIRST EVENING......

Shetland is and ideal base for exploring the New Forest. There is direct access to the New Forest across the road opposite the farm drive, go through the kissing gate, follow the path to the thatched hut and turn right, keeping the lake to your left side. Follow the path and you will cross the access lane to the RSPCB centre, in front will be a gravel track leading through the woods. Follow this keeping Dockens Water on your left and do not cross the stream. After 15 minutes or so the path will exit between Dockens Water and a meadow, to your right 100 metres or so is the Alice Lisle Pub which has a large garden and to your left are numerous lanes into the forest. This part of the forest has many walks and is less discovered than other areas. If shopping is on your mind visit Salisbury (20 mins), Bournemouth (20 mins) or Southampton (20 mins). The Jurassic coast is 45 minutes away via Wareham and Corfe Castle or an hour via the Sandbanks Chain Ferry.
