Our beautifully situated B&B is the perfect retreat for holidaying couples, intrepid adventurers and travelling salespeople alike. Located on the shore of Loch Ryan and boasting stunning views of Ailsa Craig and Arran (on sunny days!), Briar Brae strikes the perfect balance of the picturesque and the practical. All local attractions are close by, including Agnew Park, Stranraer Marina (8 mins walk) and our town centre (22 mins walk away). Train and ferry services are merely 3 and 10 mins drive away, respectively.
We were both born and brought up in Stranraer and have always praised the picturesque scenery and pleasant nature of our little town. From 2001 to 2016, we resided in Glasgow where we studied and worked (Nicola in human resources, Brendan in hospitality/food and drink industry). We moved back home in mid 2016 with our little girl Nancy to dive into the rewarding, challenging and idyllic life of running a BnB. When not making breakfasts or ironing bed sheets and pillow cases, we enjoy music, literature, art, cinema, socialising, eating, drinking and all the rest of it. Although, being together as a family and living a mostly quiet life with little Nancy (she is quiet, honest!) is what tops the list these days.
You couldn't ask for a better location than Broadstone Road for your stay in Stranraer. The road itself runs adjacent to the Loch Ryan shore and the only sounds you hear are birdsong and lapping waves. However, although we are tucked away on our scenic cul-de-sac, every restaurant, pub and place of interest within Stranraer is not more than twenty minutes walk away. Between Briar Brae's tranquil setting and its close proximity to the town centre's hustle and bustle, there really is no better place to experience all that Stranraer has to offer.
