When you choose to come and stay at Cilwendeg Lodge, you will buy into a piece of history going back to the early 1800’s. This beautiful Grade II listed gate house is part of the 350-acre estate of Cilwendeg, where the owners also live. The owners, whose family have been on the estate for over a 100 years, have so carefully renovated the gate house to turn it into wonderful holiday accommodation set in a large garden with a private hot tub. All on the ground floor, there is a large living room with wood burner, leading through to a lovely kitchen/dining room with a huge feature inglenook fireplace. There is a bathroom with a shower over bath, a bedroom with a kingsize bed and a further bedroom with twin beds on the first floor. Going back to the late 18th century, an enormously wealthy lighthouse builder built the Cilwendeg estate which includes a huge mansion house, now privately owned, and he also restored the long neglected medieval chapel. His nephew inherited the estate and built the most remarkable garden building in Wales, The Shell House, in his uncle’s honour.
