Property information

This quaint, cosy two-bedroom, dog-friendly cottage sleeps three and makes for the perfect country retreat. It has plenty of public footpaths to explore right from your doorstep and is set within its own private, enclosed garden and meadow. The detached stone cottage has been fully renovated. Step inside, and you’ll find an open-plan kitchen/diner and lounge area with a separate utility room, downstairs toilet, and stairs leading up to a double bedroom, a single bedroom, and a shower room. With a pretty enclosed patio area with a barbeque overlooking the garden and meadow, combining days right here with occasional local walks could be easy. The Courtyard at Welbeck is just a few minutes drive away, offering a culture fix thanks to its contemporary art gallery and museum. There’s also the chance to refuel at The Harley Café. The Courtyard is where you will also find the award-winning Welbeck Farm Shop, stocked to the hilt with fresh, local produce and delicious treats produced here on the Welbeck estate. If you prefer, there is a lovely 25-minute pretty walk along the footpaths through Welbeck village to the Welbeck Courtyard.

Neighbourhood information

The 15,000-acre country estate surrounding Welbeck Abbey has been home to the Dukes of Portland and their families since 1607. Nestled in Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest, it has provided the perfect country retreat for centuries and continues to do so. Stable Cottage is tucked away in a quiet part of the estate, providing the chance to get away from it all. This self-contained cottage is set in the hamlet of Belph in Derbyshire, with views of rolling fields. Here you can immerse yourself in a slower pace of life, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and explore the paths that flank the cottage. A trail that starts by the cottage leads into the picturesque limestone gorge of the estate’s Creswell Crags, home to the only Ice Age cave art in the UK. The Courtyard at Welbeck, with its contemporary art gallery and museum, is also easily accessible, and a trip there isn’t complete without a stop at The Harley Café and Welbeck Farm Shop. In season, there is fishing on the private Welbeck lakes, enjoy a short course at The School of Artisan Food, or take a horse ride, carriage trip or pony trek from Coloured Cob Equestrian Centre. The estate also offers seasonal pre-bookable brewery tours, kitchen garden tours, Abbey tours and rum distillery tours. If you’re able to stay a little longer and have time to explore, there are plenty of places to visit right on the doorstep. Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey Country Park, Newstead Abbey, Bolsover Castle, Sherwood Pines, Gullivers Valley Theme Park, Mr Straws House, and Hardwick Hall are just a few of the many places within a 30-minute drive.
