Perfect for a short break with basic but well equipped kitchen. I appreciated the “welcome” pack and the book of information about the cottage and surrounding area was informative. If I had had more time in the area it would have been very useful.

The Old Hayloft is a sympathetically renovated self-contained annex to our home. Guests have their own entrance and private garden. Set over two floors, the Old Hayloft offers spacious living and sleeping areas, a cosy kitchen with freestanding electric oven and hob, and a fully fitted bathroom. Situated less than 10 minutes’ drive from Glastonbury and Street, 15 mins from Wells, in a pretty village. The nature reserves at Ham Wall, Shapwick Heath and Westhay Moor are close by.
My husband Jamie and I live in a 17th Century farmhouse in a pretty village close to Glastonbury. We moved here in 2018 when our daughter was just three weeks old! The house needs a lot of work but we're slowly and sympathetically renovating it. We started with the annex which we are now offering as guest accommodation so others can enjoy the beauties of our local area. It's something we've wanted to do for a long time as we've enjoyed so many trips away to quirky places with Air BnB. We hope you'll come to visit and enjoy what nature has to offer here in Somerset! Socially distant key collection and entry. We will leave you to enjoy the space yourselves, but the accommodation is adjacent to our home so we are on hand to help with any queries or local information.
The Old Hayloft is located in the lovely village of Meare, just four miles from Glastonbury and six miles from Street. There are many picturesque walks in the village, which is located between the Mendip and Polden hills, affording stunning views. We are five minutes’ drive (20 minutes' walk) from RSPB Ham Wall, and national nature reserves Shapwick Heath and Westhay Moor. The ‘big three’ are regularly seen here along with otters, waders and the famous winter starling murmurations (late Nov - early March). You can see the starlings gathering in the village and they often congregate in our garden! There is a farm shop a short drive away and a pub within half an hour’s quiet walk (open Tues-Sun). We are very well located for a wide range of cycling and walking trails across the Somerset Levels. Aside from the myriad allure of Glastonbury, nearby attractions include Cheddar with its famous caves and gorge, Wookey Hole with its well-known caves, England's smallest Cathedral City of Wells and Clarks Shopping Village in Street. There are buses into Street and Glastonbury every two hours on weekdays, to travel further afield a car is advisable.
