Gwynaeth Gwen was built by Sir Harry Verney in the 1920's as part of his dream to create a 'Glyndebourne of the North' in this exceptional corner of Anglesey. The result is incredible, a stunning Arts and Crafts house set in 2 acres of mature gardens with an incredible vista out over the golden sands of Red Wharf Bay. Enter through the huge wrought iron gates (automatic thankfully!) and you're immediately transported to an era of fin-de-siecle luxury. Noel Coward is known to have spent time here in this house and its rumoured that there were also royal liaisons here involving Wallis Simpson... Fast forward almost a century and many sensitive renovations later, the addition of terraces, swimming pool and hot tub have transformed this into a place you will never want to leave. It is still hugged by nature- character and comfort abound in a magical space which is untouched by time.

Gather up a picnic and join the madding crowd on the beach or wander to Red Wharf Bay for food. The Ship Inn is a firm favourites and breakfast at the Boathouse is a must! Over the hill you will find Beaumaris which is always worth a visit for the majestic castle, a clutch of shops and bars – the ice cream parlour is a delight and the pier the kids always love for the crazy crabbing.
