Stables is a detached stone-built cottage converted from an original stable block. The cottage is on one level and has private parking, garden furniture and BBQ. Its south facing aspect makes it a sun-trap and a most relaxing place to sit and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding enclosed landscaped gardens. The cottage, which is pet friendly and welcomes up to two well behaved dogs, has been equipped and furnished to a very high standard to ensure guests enjoy a home from home experience. It is fully centrally heated and doubled glazed for comfort in all seasons and has all the character of an original Victorian cottage but with every possible modern facility and comfort. Stables provides an excellent base for exploring everything The Scottish Borders has to offer.

My name is Claire and I have been running Stables cottage as a self-catering holiday home for the last 20 years. We strive to ensure that our guests have a memorable stay in a beautiful cottage. The cottage and garden are very dog friendly and we are happy to welcome well behaved pets at no extra cost. We have continually invested in the cottage to make it a beautiful and comfortable cottage that feels like a home from home and a place to enjoy all the beauty this part of Scotland has to offer.

The cottage sits in an enviable position with beautiful garden views to hills beyond and is close to the to the river Tweed, Scotland’s foremost Salmon river. The area is steeped in history and is an ideal base for exploring everything that the stunning Scottish Borders has to offer. Winner of the 2018 Sunday Times award as the best place in Scotland to live and described by them as a “Country Classic”, it is therefore little wonder that the town is known locally as the “gem of Scotland”. The town hosts a great range of independent shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes all offering a wide range of food and drink catering to all tastes. The cottage sits at the very heart of the Scottish Borders and is therefore an excellent base for exploring the entire region and beyond. Being located only a mile from the nearest railway station station we enjoy great connections to Edinburgh with two trains an hour to the Scottish capital.
