The countryside all around you at Heron's Nest is magical, but if you yearn for a few town comforts then Cheltenham is just a short drive away. You’ll find some familiar retail names along the pedestrianised Promenade, as well as independent boutiques and restaurants in the Montpellier area. Depending on the time of year you visit, you might get to catch the Literature or Jazz Festival. And don’t forget Cheltenham Racecourse, it’s always an exhilarating day out.
There is a vast selection of fine dining and gastro pubs nearby. A short walk from Heron's Nest in Ripple is The Railway Inn, a quaint village pub offering a choice of guest ales and delightful food; The Inn at Welland with its award winning restaurant; The Boathouse in Upton-Upon-Severn offering Tapas and Italian cuisine; The Jockey at Baughton; The Fleet Inn at Twyning by the riverside; and The Swan Inn at Hanley. If you are planning on visiting nearby Cheltenham, there is also The Ivy at Montpelier; and Chelsea Brasserie.
Walking opportunities and cycle paths are in abundance in this area including the Malvern Hills with picturesque views.
