Only 4 miles away is the beautiful and rugged sand dunes of Druridge Bay and Cresswell, with its golden beach, nature reserve, country park and an impressive coastline. From here, you can try the number one coastal cycle route and see why the area is so popular with walkers and cyclists. A short drive brings you to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, 6 miles away, where the only east coast offshore sculptures can be seen. There is also a Maritime Centre, sandy beach and lifeboat house. Amble, only 7 miles away, is reputedly the friendliest port, which lies further up the coast and boasts a thriving Sunday market and some lovely eateries. An easy drive takes you onto the Heritage Coastal Route, peppered with friendly villages and castles, including the spectacular Bamburgh Castle.
