Information correct at the time of writing. Highcliffe has a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and a range of shops all within easy walking distance of the property. The nearby golf course is only a minute walk away. A short walk through the golf course takes you to Steamer Point which is a 24 acre cliff top designated local nature reserve (LNR) that is situated between Highcliffe Castle and Friar's Cliff on the Christchurch coastline. It comprises woodland and aquatic habitats and supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. Highcliffe Beach, Friars Cliff Beach and Avon Beach are all less than 20 minutes’ walk. These beautiful family friendly, shingle and sand beaches are ideal for bodyboarding and bathing, plus numerous promenades and cliff side paths to explore. There is a beach cafe, coffee shop and ice cream kiosk. If you prefer to drive, there is a large car park above Avon Beach, and Mudeford spit and quay are a short stroll along from Avon Beach. Catch the ferry from Mudeford Quay onto Hengistbury Head, which has a superb sandy beach and café. Enjoy an ice cream on the beach surrounded by the most expensive beach huts in the country! Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve, which has a visitor centre and its own micro climate, affords views of the coastline and across to the Isle of Wight. Christchurch Priory, as you would expect from an older site, has its own legends and is worth a visit, and the town of Christchurch has a large selection of art galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. There is also a street market each Monday and a tourist information centre, and regular activities held in the Quomps next to the riverbank. The New Forest is just a short cycle or drive away affording further opportunities for exploration and adventure and wonderful for a full day out.
