Location was great though a shame no parking close to the cottage. We stayed in the top floor bedroom and the matress & pillows where not great. Only other suggestion would be to add a Nespresso coffee machine or similar as in a property of this...

Neighbourhood information

Sandsend is a picture-perfect coastal village. In summer children play in the sand whilst families soak up the sun enjoying picnics and ice creams with paddle boarders gliding over the sublime water. In the winter the powerful waves crash over the sea wall and are an incredible sight to behold. Lying on Yorkshire's spectacular Heritage Coastline, Sandsend is the ideal place for a family holiday or a calm gathering of friends, with its award winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. Indeed this part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here. In the season, beachside stalls offer everything from light snacks and drinks to boats, buckets and spades! Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon - great and safe for paddling and boating! For the more energetic the village sits on the lovely long distance Cleveland Way Trail, which offers great off-road cycling along the disused coastal railway as well as breathtaking clifftop walks. Take a trip to Whitby, where historians will relish the gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey, climb the 199 Steps for spectacular panoramic views, or visit the family-friendly sandy beach for picnics and sandcastle building. Follow winding cobbled alleyways filled with 18th-century cottages, stroll paths along the Yorkshire cliff tops, and go rock pooling on the little sandy beach in Staithes, an unmissable seaside community perched on a hillside with picture-perfect coastal vistas. Travel to Robin Hood's Bay for a historic, postcard-perfect fishing village with tiny alleyways full of character, quaint shops, and excellent tearooms, as well as the Bay's museum, which houses local history and tradition.
