As the only town in the Peak District National Park, Bakewell dazzles visitors throughout all seasons with its mellow stone mediaeval buildings and bridge, its quaint courtyards and back streets and its wide range of speciality shops, mouth watering delis cafes and array of traditional pubs. There is always plenty to do and see in Bakewell itself, whether it’s specialist markets, relaxing strolls along the river and park, special events etc, but it is a town that captivates its visitors with the little things; strolling the cobbled lanes, people-watching in the cafés, or savouring a Bakewell tart from the local pudding shop. And of course, Bakewell is the perfect launchpad to the highlights of the Peak District - Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall only a few minutes drive away through to the Monsal Trail for some traffic free walking, cycling or horse riding.
