Art and food have always been at the heart of who I am—though depending on the day, one might edge out the other! These days, I share my love of the world with two fearless young explorers (ages 10 and 12), who are busy uncovering the wild beauty and hidden treasures of West Wight, just as I did when I was their age. Watching them scramble over rock pools, chase sea breezes, and disappear into leafy footpaths feels like stepping back into my own childhood.
Now, I get to share that same magic with guests. There’s something truly special about this coastline—its peace, its wild edges, its quiet charm. I love welcoming others into this little slice of island paradise… not that it needs much help making an impression.

Set on the edge of Fort Victoria Country Park and overlooking the Solent towards Lymington and the New Forest, Seafarers enjoys a prime location just minutes from Yarmouth and steps from the scenic Isle of Wight Coastal Path. More than half of the Isle of Wight is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with much of that found in the tranquil and dramatic landscapes of West Wight. The Isle of Wight Coastal Path runs directly through the country park and right past the cottages, making it an ideal base for walkers and nature lovers. Beautiful beaches dot the coastline here, including one right outside your front door.
The charming harbour town of Yarmouth—arrival point for ferries from Lymington—is a short walk or just a three-minute drive away. This historic town boasts a range of inviting pubs, restaurants, cafés, independent shops, and delicatessens. It’s as much a haven for foodies and shoppers as it is for history buffs—it even has its own castle.
There’s no shortage of attractions nearby. Visit the castle where Charles I was held captive, explore Queen Victoria’s seaside residence at Osborne House, or discover the legacy of one of photography’s earliest pioneers. For families, there are adventure parks, zoos, children's farms, and even a steam railway.
The cottages themselves date back 160 years and originally housed officers stationed at Fort Victoria, once part of the island’s defensive network. Today, the Fort is home to a cosy tea room and several family-friendly attractions including a planetarium, aquarium, model railway, and an underwater archaeology museum.
The country park is a nature reserve filled with mixed woodland and shingle beach, threaded with walking trails, lookout points, and hidden carvings. It’s perfect for beachcombing, birdwatching, fossil hunting—or simply exploring the outdoors with a curious mind.
From within the woods, you’ll enjoy sweeping views across the Solent to Hurst Castle, one of Henry VIII’s coastal forts.
