The cabin is the result of a long-held dream: to offer a retreat that blends natural beauty with comfort, simplicity, and thoughtful design. Inspired by a love for the outdoors and handcrafted living, every detail has been considered to help you feel relaxed and at ease. Whether you're here for a romantic getaway, family time, or some much-needed rest and rejuvenation, the log cabin has been prepared to make your stay smooth, cosy, and memorable. From the soft lighting to the little personal touches, we hope you'll feel instantly at home and able to truly unwind. Ideal for a romantic getaway, solo retreat, or quality family time, it’s a serene year-round destination. Inside, the open-plan layout features warm timber walls, underfloor heating, and large windows that flood the space with light. Unwind in the lounge or conservatory, cook in the fully equipped kitchen, and dine with views of the trees. Sleeping includes a cosy ground-floor area and two charming mezzanine lofts (accessed by ladders), which may not suit those with limited mobility or very young children—please contact us if unsure. Enjoy a modern bathroom with fresh towels and essentials, plus high-speed Wi-Fi (or unplug and relax). Outside, your private deck is perfect for coffee or sunset views. No pets. Smoke-free site indoors and out (vaping only). Hot Tub: Your first soak is free—water filled and wood ready. Oakenshaw is a small, welcoming village with a tranquil atmosphere and a rich sense of history. You’ll likely hear birdsong in the mornings and see the occasional hare or rabbit wandering nearby. Despite its secluded feel, the cabin is ideally located just a short drive from many of County Durham’s most loved attractions. The beautiful and historic Durham City is just (6 miles away), offering a mix of cultural sites, including the stunning Durham Cathedral and Castle, as well as riverside walks, shops, cafes, and restaurants. You’re also within easy reach of Bishop Auckland (7 miles away), home to Auckland Castle, galleries, and the spectacular Kynren open-air show during the summer season. Nature lovers will be spoiled for choice—explore nearby trails on foot or by bike, visit Hamsterley Forest, or take a scenic drive through the Durham Dales and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local walking paths begin right outside your door, ideal for short strolls or longer rambles. A car is recommended to fully enjoy the surrounding region, though once you arrive, many guests find little reason to leave the calm and comfort of the cabin.
