Neighbourhood information
There are a number of villages that lay claim to being quintessentially English, but Cockington, with its narrow country lanes, traditional thatched cottages and charming village pub, is the real deal. Take a walk into the village centre and you will find the Tudor manor house, Cockington Court and its scenic acreage, featuring beautifully restored lakes and points of interest such as the Gamekeepers Cottage. The Manor is now a craft centre offering the opportunity for visitors to watch craftspeople at work and to purchase any number of handmade gifts. If you needed any more reasons to visit this quaint village, it would be its proximity to the bustling capital of the English Riviera, Torquay. Famous for its tropical plants, golden beaches and Victorian frontage, Torquay is a busy seaside resort offering visitors everything from fine dining, sailing and water sports, a popular theatre scene, as well as vibrant nightlife. Despite being only a half an hour walk from this lively centre, Cockington remains an oasis of calm and tranquillity, meaning that visitors can easily enjoy the best of both worlds.
