The old town streets are charming with a traditional English inn dating from the 1580s just round the corner. The accommodation is a terraced 2 bedroom early Victorian cottage. It fits a family of four plus an infant in a travel cot or two couples comfortably. It's on a beautiful, quiet residential street with buildings dating back hundreds of years and properties that are lovingly renovated and cared for. Staying on Vicarage Lane really is a delight. The integrated kitchen comes with a dishwasher and washing machine. Outside, there is a small courtyard space with a bistro table and chair set. We've tried to think of everything to make your stay as good as possible. In the heart of this medieval town, it takes just a few minutes to walk to the Quay area.

Sandwich really is a delight with timber-framed houses leaning over narrow streets. Follow the town trail taking in the historic sites, then relax on the quay with its cosy pubs and good eateries including The Bell Hotel. Walk across the sand dunes of St. George's golf course to reach the shingle expanse of Sandwich Bay. And there are even the remains of a Roman Fort (Richborough) that can be reached by river bus or head out to the estuary to spot seals. Sandwich Bay is a 10-minute flat cycle away or a 5 minute drive along a toll road. The UNESCO site of Canterbury is a short 30-minute drive away. BEACHES From Sandwich Bay you can walk along the shingle/pebble shoreline to Deal Beach (approx a forty minute walk) which then runs into Walmer Beach and Kingsdown Beach. Thanet has a good choice of award winning sandy beaches at Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate - all a twenty minute drive or so away. These beaches have more blue flags than anywhere else in the country. Botany Bay is a photographer's delight with its chalk stalks and Joss Bay a firm surfers favourite when the conditions are right. St. Margaret's Bay is a twenty minute-drive away in the other direction (just north of Dover) and is a picturesque pebble bay nestled below the White Cliffs with rock pools to explore at low tide.
