Situated on a cliff top, overlooking Scarborough’s award-winning North Bay Beach, the family run The Rockside offers free Wi-Fi and magnificent sea views. It is just 3 minutes’ walk from Scarborough Castle. The rooms boast a flat-screen LCD TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The modern en suite shower rooms have a hairdryer. Many feature fantastic sea views. Ironing supplies are available upon request. In the mornings, The Rockside serves full English breakfast in the dining room, along with cereals, yoghurt, and fruit. Breakfast is prepared using locally sourced produce. In the evenings, drinks are available from the bar in the guest lounge, which boasts views of the sea. Scarborough’s shops and restaurants are within 10 minutes’ walk of Rockside. The hotel is just a 10-minute walk from both the sandy South Bay Beach and the North Bay Promenade. Parking permits for the streets directly outside the hotel are provided upon arrival. Scarborough Railway Station is 15 minutes’ walk away.

Company information

We are both Scarborians and are passionate about our home town. We love living in this beautiful part of the Coast with our 3 boys. When we're not busy at Rockside, we are usually walking around the Marine Drive or along North Bay Beach. Darrel is a keen local surfer and he takes whatever opportunity he can to jump in the North Sea. I prefer to keep my feet on dry land!

Property information

The Rockside has been our family business since 2001. You could say that B&B is in our nature as we both come from a long line of local hoteliers! Over the last 16 years we have sympathetically refurbished the entire property. The result is clean, modern bedroom facilities and services that our guests love in traditional surroundings. We look forward to welcoming you to The Rockside.

Neighbourhood information

We believe that Scarborough has something for everyone. For families, we love the North Bay attractions. A walk around Peasholm Park and the Glen is a must. The miniature North Bay Steam Railway is a great family treat and can take you all the way to the fabulous SeaLife Centre and Pirate Golf. If the tide is out, grab a bucket and a net and take the children in the rock pools to find their own SeaLife adventure. In the evenings, buy a crab line for a pound and take it to the South Bay harbour area. It's far more memorable than spending a fortune in the slots! For a gentle day out, take a walk onto the Esplanade above the South Bay. It can be really peaceful there and there are some fabulous places to stop off and admire the view. We love the Clock Tower Cafe on a sunny day. In the evenings, there are many lovely restaurants and places to eat nearby. Chinese, Indian, Bar Meals there are loads to choose from. Our favourite Fish and Chips takeaway is North Bay Fisheries opposite Peasholm Park Entrance. There's a reason there's always a huge queue outside! Take them into the Park and sit on a bench to a eat them. Divine! For Fish & Chips to eat in, you must find Mother Hubbards.
