At the western extremity of the dramatic pebbly Chesil Beach, West Bay—also known as "The Gateway to the Dorset Jurassic Coast" and made popular by the television series Broadchurch—is situated near to the magnificent sandstone cliffs of Golden Cap. In addition to offering beautiful walks along the South West Coast Path and plenty of opportunity to try your hand at sea fishing, crabbing, boating, and golf, this great beachfront setting is ideal for family vacations. TE Lawrence's and Thomas Hardy's residences, the Tank Museum in Bovington, or the Naval Air Museum in Yeovil are all worthwhile visits.
