Located just over five miles inland from the coastal resort of Cromer is the charming village of Hanworth. The village comprises of picturesque dwellings, as well as the largest enclosed common in England, Hanworth Common, which covers 35 acres and is protected by cattle grids. Hanworth's church, St Bartholomew, stands near to 18th century Hanworth Hall.
Food lovers are well placed to sample some of Norfolk's finest culinary experiences. As Hanworth is on the border of privately owned, Gunton Park, be sure to sample a delicious meal at the eccentric Gunton Arms, and its sister restaurant The Suffield Arms. To stretch your legs, walk to the Cricketers on The Green in neighbouring Aldborough. For great fish 'n' chips visit No1 Cromer, or head along the coast to Rocky Bottoms in West Runton. A short car ride away, the lovely, family orientated traditional seaside town of Cromer has an award-winning pier, beautiful beaches with rock pools, cliffs and great sandy expanses, plus many fabulous independent places to eat out. Cromer is known locally as Norfolk's surfing hot spot - lessons and equipment hire can be booked at Glide Surf School. Cromer Museum tells of the town's maritime history and a fun, family day out at Amazona Zoo is a must. Cromer Pier has a Pavillion Theatre, the only of its kind in the country, which stages traditional variety shows and live music events. With so many carnivals, markets and festivals, there is always something entertaining going on in and around Cromer.
Just over 5 miles further inland from Hanworth is Aylsham, a traditional unspoilt market town. Today, the picturesque market place holds markets on Mondays and Fridays, and there are plenty of shops, pubs, and tea-rooms.
