Nestled amongst the rolling countryside of the Brett Valley and situated in the heart of the Wool Towns, Stable Cottage is your next poolside staycation. Our single-storey barn conversion sleeps six peacefully beneath big Suffolk skies. Located within the grounds of Dove House, an impressive 14th-century Suffolk Hall, it boasts gorgeous views over extensive grounds, across an equestrian stud to a lake and river, with fields and the Brett Valley beyond. Oozing with rustic and homely ambience, Stable Cottage offers flexible options for couples and families, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and two receptions. An open-plan living space has a well-equipped kitchen and dining area seating six and a reception seating area to congregate and keep the chef company. During your stay, cook up a storm on the impressive range cooker. Or, if you need a break from cooking, consider bringing the restaurant to you with DineIndulge, available for a one-off celebration or fully catered break.Escape to the cosy sitting room with its big sofas, and armchairs, and get a movie going on the 40” TV. Warm your toes by the stylish wood burner in winter months, and during the summer, slide out to the neat patio and garden with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. The four charming bedrooms have vast vaulted ceilings, skylights galore and chunky wooden beams. The two doubles have wooden 5' kings and the two singles have 3' beds. They share two well-appointed bathrooms, one with walk in shower and one with a luxurious free-standing bath. Did we say poolside? Oh yes. At its heart, the shared 9m outdoor pool is available during the warmer summer months. Or just laze on a sun lounger.Elsewhere, you are free to explore and enjoy the grounds of Dove House and wander the paths. There’s a lot of wandering to get through. Potter around the fields, now home to thoroughbred mares and a small herd of pedigree Hereford cattle, along the picturesque river bank or head out on a public footpath.

Situated in a quiet hamlet in the Brett Valley, explore Suffolk’s two AONBs - Dedham Vale and the Suffolk Coast and Heaths. In Dedham Vale take in the scenic delights associated with painters Constable, Gainsborough and Munnings. Explore the countryside associated with John Constable at Flatford Mill. Munnings worked from a studio in his garden at Dedham now a museum. Gainsborough was born in Sudbury (11 m) where his house is dedicated to his life. Kersey (2 m) is a pretty village and Hadleigh, Long Melford, Lavenham, Sudbury and Clare form the Wool Towns. Kersey Mill is packed with shops, eateries and amenities. Bury St Edmunds (19 m) has a magnificent cathedral and the ruins of an Abbey within stunning gardens. Museums, stately homes and gardens include Beth Chatto Gardens, Melford Hall, Kentwell Hall and Ickworth Park. 3 minutes takes you to Hollow Trees Farm with a Trail, Farm Shop, Café and events. Bildeston Crown (2 m) for lovely food and 15 minutes to medieval Lavenham, Suffolk's food capital. Blue Flag beaches at Felixstowe, Clacton, Frinton and Walton are all within 50 minutes. The Suffolk coast is an hour’s drive, and The RSPB reserve at Minsmere is worth a visiting.
