South Cerney’s local pub, The Eliot Arms, is a three minute drive from the cottage. Only two miles away is Cirencester, often referred to as the Capital of the Cotswolds. Dating back to Roman times, Cirencester provides a wealth of fascinating history, architecture, attractions, shops and places to eat. Nearby Cirencester Park Polo Club is the oldest polo club in the UK and offers a host of tournament fixtures to watch. Try one of North Cerney’s circular walks that start out from the local pub The Bathurst Arms. Cotswold Water Park is just a six minute drive from Stable Cottage. The perfect location for horse riding, water sports, cycling, fishing and swimming. Just 10 from Stable Cottage, is the charming village of Bibury with local attractions including Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages built of local stone next to the River Coln, the Bibury Trout Farm and the Saxon Church of St. Mary. Take rest and relaxation to the next level with a spa day at the luxurious Cowley Manor C-Side Spa. Swindon, known for its railway heritage, is nearby where you can visit Steam: the Museum of the Great Western Railway, and while you're there, enjoy some retail therapy opposite at the Designer Outlet Village. To let off some steam yourselves, visit Lydiard Park on the west side of Swindon, enjoying a Palladian House, walled garden and pretty church, all set within 260 acres of parkland. There is a fabulous children's play area, a cafe and tea room, along with numerous events and education programmes throughout the year. South Cerney is approximately one and three quarter hours by car from Central London along the M4 and A419. There is a fast and regular train service from Paddington to Kemble Station, 14 minutes by taxi from Stable Cottage.
