Stow House is a former vicarage located in the Yorkshire Dales. It has views over Wensleydale and Bishopdale, and over two acres of private grounds.
There are seven rooms with attached bathroom, and many benefit from a seating area. Each has a hairdryer, flat-screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities, plus guests can enjoy complimentary Molton Brown toiletries.
The spectacular Aysgarth Waterfalls, a series of cascades stretching for over half a mile along the River Ure, are only five minutes’ walk from Stow House. Historic castles, abbeys and stately homes are within easy driving distance.

Phil and I were true London urbanites. We gave up our creative careers and moved to Stow House in May 2014. It took six months to completely refurbish it and we have packed it to the rafters with the art we have collected over the years.

Stow House was originally built in 1876 for the rural dean of Wensleydale. It became a guest house in the 1980s and we took over in May 2014. After a full refurbishment it provides the perfect combination of period features and uber modern amenities.
Neighborhood info
There are some simply stunning walks that start right from our doorstep. Stroll along the River Ure past waterfalls and herons or climb to the top of Penhill and stride across the moors listening to the curlews call.
Love cheese? Stow House is a mere 20-minute drive from the Wensleydale Creamery, the only maker of real Wensleydale cheese.
Bolton Castle is a mere 4 miles away and is a bonafide medieval castle with the most fantastic views. Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner here for six months - there are definitely worse spots to be incarcerated! During spring and summer, there are some spectacular bird-of-prey displays, just check out the website for details.
