    I liked the amenities and that it wasn’t an induction stove so husband could also cook with simple buttons on the stove and oven. It had a bonus of a clothes dryer - hooray!

The apartment is one of two sitting above a specialist Independent Wine & Whisky Merchant on English Street in Dumfries. The building is well over 200 years old and retains many of its original features including the spiral staircase and bannister and the sash and case windows.. It has been furnished in the main by quirky, up-cycled pieces and also has a full height wall length wool curtain in the bedroom giving a cosy feel and blocking out the sounds from the busy street below. There are two televisions in the apartment, one in each room, the kitchen one has an integral and a good stock of DVDs, books & games can be found in the bedroom.
The apartment is owned by T B Watson Ltd, who have been established on English Street since 1909. We have been running this apartment as a holiday let since 2018 and we are thoroughly enjoying meeting the procession of guests that we have had since then. My name is Karen and I am the main member of the team that looks after the guests and the flats and this is one of two apartments that we let for holidays. I enjoy up-cycling furniture and also have a keen interest in the history of the property and our family's ownership of it since 1945. Check out the black and white photographs in the lounge/kitchen!
