The surrounding area On Anglesey, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re planning a family day out with the kids or a relaxing afternoon on one of our lovely sandy beaches, we hope you like some of the suggestions below: East coast beaches The East Coast of Anglesey offers a number of extensive golden beaches all along the A5025 such as Llanddona (quiet and remote), Red Wharf Bay (home to the famous Ship Inn), Benllech (more like a traditional British seaside resort). Traeth Bychan, a pretty sandy beach – when the tides out, the small stone and concrete boat park make it a favourite with sailors and the jet-ski fraternity, Just 25 metres or so from the beach as you go up the lane is Traeth Bychan beach cafe which sells cold and hot drinks, ice creams and snacks, while next to this is a car park and toilets. Traeth Lligwy a huge sandy beach, family and dog friendly, not too crowded even on a busy summer’s day, with toilets and a café on the South Car Park. A great beach for building sand castles, crabbing in rock pools, kite and wind surfing, dolphin and seal watching – take a picnic and stay all day! North coast beaches At the north end of the A5025, Amlwch is a historic fishing village associated with the ‘Copper Kingdom’ of Parys Mountain whereas Cemaes Bay is an attractive beach resort, close to Cemlyn nature reserve and Church Bay (Porth Swtan) with its tall cliffs and the oldest cottage on Anglesey. West coast beaches Newborough Forest (off the A4080) leads to Llanddwyn Island through a wonderful avenue of Corsican pines and fine golden sand to a mystical island steeped in ancient folklore. A beautiful, untouched clean beach, Newborough is a hidden gem of a beach! The beach and the forest is owned by the National Trust and they’ve recently built BBQ facilities, toilets and a new boardwalk that’s suitable for wheelchairs.
