Dave and Julie welcome you to The Beach Bothies at Kneep, on the stunning west coast of the Isle of Lewis. We have 2 luxury self catering camping pods, nestled on the sand dune overlooking the beach, with uninterrupted, breath-taking views across West Loch Roag to the Isle of Pabbay, and out to the North Atlantic. You will be staying in one of the most beautiful locations on the Isle of Lewis, in one of the most comfortable and well equipped camping pods you could find - with kitchenette, shower room, king sized bed with luxury mattress and bedding, WiFi, towels, toiletries, and a BBQ all included. Your pod will cocoon you with every home comfort, whilst just a step away from your front door is the white sandy beach that gives The Beach Bothies their name. You may find yourself lulled to sleep by the whispering of the sea at night, or be besieged by the fury of a wild Atlantic storm. You could wake to watch the sand pipers picking their way along the shoreline, or to see waves crashing against the rocks just beneath your windows - but whether it be calm and sunny, or blowing a hooley, you will always find a cosy haven at The Beach Bothies!

We came to the Isle of Lewis from Manchester in 1986, Dave to earn his living as a scallop diver, and myself to work as his boatman. We have lived and worked here ever since, raising our family, and harvesting and selling shellfish. In 2019 we opened the doors to The Beach Bothies in the village of Kneep where we live. Dave is a font of knowledge about the best places to fish or bird watch, and happy to share anything he knows with anyone who asks!

The village of Kneep is to be found on the beautiful Valtos peninsula in the district of Uig, and is ideally situated for exploring some of the most superb sandy beaches that the Isle of Lewis has to offer. An area of unspoiled natural beauty, Uig is home to an abundance of birdlife, rugged cliff top walks and fresh water lochs, and in the summer the machair grassland along the coast puts on one of the greatest wildflower displays to be found anywhere in the UK. Your stay can be as relaxing or as energetic as you like, with opportunities galore for walking, canoeing, cycling, surfing, star gazing, bird spotting, fishing and boat trips to name but a few!
