We are Dianne & Rod Frazer. We're the owners of Where Stags Roar, a small selection of 4-star holiday homes in Newtonmore, the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, in the Scottish Highlands. We built WSR up over the last twenty years and are proud recent winners of the prestigious 'Best Self Catered Accommodation Highlands and Islands Tourism' awards, and were national finalists in the Scottish Thistle accommodation awards. We're also ski instructors, who worked mostly in the French Alps and now enjoy skiing closer to home, and we're passionate about Scotland and the outdoors :) Please note that our check-in time is 4pm and check out is by 10am - thank you for your understanding and for not arriving earlier at the property - there are lovely local cafes and plenty of things to do if you arrive in the area ahead of these timings (such as a walk up Glen Banchor, visiting Ruthven Barracks, Dalwhinnie distillery, Highland Folk Museum, Loch Insh and lots more). The Byre is a spacious, light filled property with a stylish interior that sleeps 4 and has 2 ensuite bedrooms. Situated in the heart of Newtonmore with everything just on the doorstep. Enjoying spectacular views over the golf course and Cairngorm Mountains this eco-friendly, detached holiday cottage is finished with a mix of traditional materials and contemporary furnishings. The large open plan ground floor is a multi-functional space of living room with wood-burning stove and large kitchen/dining area with hand-crafted furniture including a huge dining table. The modern well-equipped kitchen has dishwasher, washing machine, full oven, 4 hobs, microwave and fridge-freezer. Upstairs the large master bedroom has a king-size brass bed, JBL portable bluetooth speaker, chesterfield sofa and it's own en-suite bathroom with a luxury roll-top bath, shower cubicle, toilet and heated towel rail. The twin bedroom has a TV/DVD, a supply of books, and again plenty of space. The twin room also has its own en-suite shower room with large shower cubicle, wash-hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail. A secluded, south-facing decked terrace is accessed by the patio doors off the lounge, and it overlooks the tree-lined back garden. The deck is the perfect spot to unwind watching the light changing on the Cairngorms. Keep an eye out for the red squirrels who come to feed at the feeder! There's plenty of on site (free) parking, and as well as the deck at the front there is a small enclosed, dog friendly, lawned garden with a bench, and this area enjoys afternoon sun. (The rear garden below the deck is accessed by a rough path only and is laid out cottage style/semi-wild/bee-friendly and leads down towards the golf clubhouse). Electric central heating and logs provided for the stove. This stunning property is 4 star Visit Scotland rated. 1 well-behaved dog welcome. Newtonmore has a supermarket, post office, pharmacy, barbers, pubs that serve food, takeaway and petrol station.
