Property information

Recently chosen as a shoot location for a French-style home accessories store, The Gables is a beautifully restored two-bedroom cottage on the outskirts of Shepley, West Yorkshire. Ideally located for exploring the stunning Derbyshire Peak District and Pennine Hills, it is just three miles from Holmfirth, the iconic setting of Last of the Summer Wine. A short drive away, you'll find the charming village of Cawthorne, home to Cannon Hall Farm, and Shibden Hall, Halifax, the filming location for Gentleman Jack. The renowned Yorkshire Sculpture Park is also within easy reach. A five-minute walk brings you to a welcoming country pub/restaurant and a well-stocked 24/7 supermarket, where smokeless fuel for the stove is readily available. Dating back to the early 1700s, The Gables once served as the village store. While renovated to a high standard, its character remains intact, with original fireplaces, exposed beams, and quirky-shaped rooms enhanced by warm, neutral tones for a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. The fully centrally heated cottage features a country-style kitchen with a range cooker, combination microwave, fridge, and washing machine. A separate dining room with a multi-fuel burner boasts a pitch pine dining table for four, plus a four-seater Chesterfield. A large fridge-freezer is conveniently tucked away in the pantry. The cozy lounge includes a stove-effect gas fire, a four-seater leather Chesterfield sofa, an armchair, a coffee table and a Smart TV. The master bedroom offers a king-size bed, two chests of drawers, and a double wardrobe, while the second bedroom has two single beds, bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers, and a built-in cupboard. Additional storage is available on the landing. The vintage-style bathroom features a roll-top bath, separate shower cubicle, French-style cabinet, and crystal chandeliers, adding to the home’s timeless charm.
