Located within the heart of Biggar, stands the historical site of The Old Mill. A site standing to the test of time. This old mill is believed to be just over 600 years old. It was mentioned as early as 1367, when Sir Malcolm Fleming collected mill duties. It has remained an integral part of the community ever since. By 1451, the mill was an important part of the town's economy, even appearing in Biggar's inventory when the town received its burgh status. A unique addition to The Old Mill, is the well preserved machinery found inside the public lounge/breakfast area. This complex gearing system was used to turn the old water wheel that has since been removed. But the gearing stands as a reminder of the past. The Old Mill offers a whole host of features. This bed and breakfast has been a dream come true for us! Dating all the way back to the purchase of the derilect building back in 2008. Due to the financial crash, things were a bit chaotic, and renovations were never able to take place until 2017, but since then we've had a vision and stuck by it. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but we are happy and proud to say that we're finally knocking on the door of fruition!
