I am Thomas Abel Smith, the seventh generation of my family to have the privilege of owning and managing Woodhall Estate. The Walled Gardens include both the Georgian manor house and the adjacent cottage within the grounds of Woodhall Estate, sleeping up to 12 people. The two properties are separated by a stunning historic garden wall where you can find a door between the two. There is a large games room at Garden House that can be used as a space for gatherings of all 12 guests. The gardens are also a perfect place to all sit out together during the summer months. We welcome well-behaved dogs. Please contact us if you would like more information on bringing your four-legged friend(s) to stay. The Garden House is a Georgian Manor House sleeping up to 8 people across 4 bedrooms. Beehives Cottage is an enchanting cottage sleeping up to 4 people across 2 bedrooms.

There is plenty to do in the local area. There are many, varied, countryside walks right from the doorstep across Woodhall Park. St Albans, Cambridge and London are all within easy reach, but we think that the very best thing about staying at The Walled Gardens is the chance to relax in a beautiful setting, with an acre of private gardens, surrounded by trees, parkland, and wildlife. If you like bird spotting, squirrel, deer, or even sheep spotting, you will be happy here! The nearest village is Watton-at-Stone, a mile away, with a good bakery, a butcher and a deli. You'll also find The Bull, an excellent pub for local ales and hearty food. The historic market town of Hertford is 6 miles away, full of independent boutique shops to explore, real ale pubs and many dining options. We are a countryside retreat in Hertfordshire, but with easy road and rail access to London and the rest of the UK. There is ample car parking available at The Garden House and Beehives Cottage. By Train: The Walled Gardens are close to various train stations with good connections to London and beyond.
