Property information

The Tower Rooms form a 3 bedroom (max 6 guests, no children under 12, no pets), spacious three storey house, set within a Grade II listed Georgian building. Easy walking distance to Fakenham town centre. Large open living/dining/kitchen with a log burner. All bedrooms are up a carpeted winding spiral wood staircase. Bedrooms 2 & 3 are joined and share a bathroom. Top floor bedroom 1 is up 33 steps. Enclosed private courtyard garden with outside dining table and BBQ. Off street parking for 3 cars with access through gate to house entrance. Beautiful contemporary but comfortable open planning living space with direct access via 3 sets of patio doors to courtyard garden with raised beds. The winding, spiral timber staircase is set within an original stair tower. There are 33 steps from the ground to the upper floor, with steps on the ground entrance, so not suitable for those with mobility issues. The ground, first floor and tower date from around 1690. The top floor from 1770, when the original house was transformed with a grant from the Cranmer Estate to provide lodgings for ‘ladies & gentlemen’ on pilgrimages to Walsingham. Lord Nelson was known to stayover at the house.

Neighbourhood information

Fakenham is a market town in central North Norfolk, halfway between King's Lynn and Norwich. 10 Miles to Wells-next-the-Sea, 20 miles to Cromer. There is a Thursday Market that dates back to 1250 and a Farmers Market on the last Saturday of each month with great locally grown organic produce! It's often called the Gateway to the North Norfolk Coast as it's well positioned for the coast and other local attractions like Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park and the Fakenham Racecourse. Easy to get to are Holkham Hall, Sandringham and the Thursford Collection of steam engines and funfair rides with its wonderful Christmas Spectacular Show - the largest of its kind in England. There are plenty of places to eat in the town including pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as a four screen cinema, 5 minutes walk away.
